Selank (TP-7) is a synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) derived from tuftsin, a naturally occurring immunomodulatory fragment of immunoglobulin G, extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail for enhanced metabolic stability. It was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The peptide has been studied for anxiolytic and nootropic activity in animal models and clinical work, with research pointing to modulation of GABAergic signalling, monoamine turnover and BDNF expression.
